I am so sorry to have to say that Cleve lost his battle with cancer at about 12:30 this afternoon. It was as peaceful as we could have asked for. He is no longer in pain and that sets my heart at ease. But one thing is for sure, you didn't give up without a fight. You have made everyone so proud. Good bye sweetheart, you are already dearly missed. Our salute to you...yes we did your favorite toast in your honor. Love you.

Those we love don't go away,
    They walk beside us everyday,
    Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

  5. What an amazing, gentle man who will be greatly missed in our medical community. He showed a good fight until the end. Never met his wife but what an amazing job she has done sharing the journey on this blog. Praying for the family during this hard time. Cleve will never be forgotten.

  6. I didn't know Cleve hardly at all. He helped care for my daughter after s horrible car accidnet. We saw him a few times after Dr Metwally did emergency surgery on her in 2009. He was wonderful to us. So sorry for your loss. My dear friend Janda shared this blog with me. She speaks very highly of you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  7. I have known Cleve since fifth grade, and his kindness never wavered. I was a geeky kid wearing the wrong clothes and had few friends. Cleve is one of the few people in our small hometown who never teased me, never said a cruel word, and never even looked at me with anything but friendliness. We were never close, but he always made me feel like a was a person who mattered. He was a person who made it easier to walk though the halls of our school, just by refusing to participate in teasing.

Thank you Cleve. I am so glad it is so competely apparent here that you married a wonderful woman and had a life filled with joy, because you deserved it. In the coming days, I hope your family is able to find the love and comfort you would want for them.

  8. Cleve and I spent a lot of time together, some of which consisted of waiting in the doctors longue at either PMMC or RVMC. During those times I had the chance to exchange many ideas and thoughts with someone I saw as a close friend and co-worker. There seemed many similarities between us, which may have been why I could relate so well to Cleve. Even when we were not working we found ourselves grinding our way up some steep ass grade on the side of a mountain. There we were again chatting about kids and work and life in general. I always appreciated Cleve's candor and loved him for his compassion. I watched as Cleve made his transformation from "Stud of the Rogue Valley" to Husband and father of two wonderful boys.

Very few people in my life impacted me as Cleve did. Those of you fortunate enough to have received medical care from Cleve know that his caring nature made him a fine Physician Assitant and a credit to his profession.

I will miss the times we spent together, but will always remember how great those times were and how much fun we had. What a wonderfully positive impact this spirited soul made in the lives of so many.

    God Bless you Cleve,
    Rob Patterson

  9. I was fortunate to have met Cleve 5/6 years ago. He always had a smile to share, a wave, or a good word or two, even on those late night surgery days when we all would rather be at home. I think that this world is a better place because of Cleve and how many people he impacted in such a positive way. He will be missed. Katie, I have only met you a couple of times but by reading this blog I can tell that you are truely an amazing person! Over the months of reading your updates, this blog site helped us to feel connected to Cleve in a way that we otherwise wouldn't have had. Thank you for sharing such a personal journey.

    our thoughts are with you
